Step aboard this solid 2003 Selene 53 Ocean Trawler—a nice example of one of the most respected passagemakers in her class. Designed for comfort, efficiency, and reliability, this yacht delivers the ideal blend of classic craftsmanship and serious bluewater capability.
Recently benefiting from a complete Cummins main engine rebuild (April 2025), a new 12.5 kW Westerbeke generator (Nov 2025), fresh bottom paint (Nov 2025), and overhauled stabilizers (Nov 2025), she's ready to cruise with a few updates to her electronics. Her warm teak interior, three-stateroom layout, stabilizers, and bow and stern thrusters make her equally suited for extended voyaging or elegant coastal cruising.
Built by Jet Tern Marine with Selene's renowned attention to detail, this vessel combines timeless style, seaworthy design, and the comfort of home—wherever your next horizon lies.
The Selene 53 offers luxurious accommodations for extended cruising and liveaboard use. It features a spacious owner's cabin with an en-suite head amidships and two guest cabins forward with an additional head. One of the guest cabins doubles as an office. The interior is finished with high-quality materials, including teak joinery, teak and holly flooring, granite counters, stainless steel ports, and plush upholstery.
Entering from the large aft deck, one walks through the main salon, past the galley to port, and the stairway to the owner's cabin to starboard before stepping up to the pilothouse. There is a stairway to the cabins located forward and to the starboard in the pilothouse, as well as stairs to the flybridge aft and to the starboard in the pilothouse.
The well-appointed salon is accessible from the aft deck. It is finished with quality teak joinery and teak and holly flooring. To the starboard, there are two seats and storage. To port, there is a folding dining table with an L-shaped settee. Thanks to large windows, the space has plenty of natural light and provides excellent exterior views. There are seven opening windows in the salon and galley.
The galley is forward to port in the salon with overhead cabinets, under-counter cabinets and drawers, abundant storage, and Corian countertops.
The pilothouse is forward of the galley/salon and aft of the foredeck. It provides excellent visibility from the helm and has exterior doors to port and starboard. There is an L-shaped settee with a teak table, a single pilot berth, and a helm seat.
The large owner's cabin is amidships with easy access to the pilothouse, salon, and mechanical room via companionways, fore and aft. It features a queen bed, storage space, and an en-suite head with a separate shower.
The primary guest cabin is forward with a queen bed and storage. The guest cabin and office are to port, featuring twin offset beds, a storage locker, and a desk with a chair. The primary guest cabin and guest cabin share the guest head.
The heads have Techma electric flush toilets and separate showers.
Aft there is a stern platform with stainless steel safety rails and a transom door leading to the aft deck. The covered aft deck provides ample space for deck chairs and features a hatch that allows access to a large aft lazarette, as well as a molded stairwell leading to the flybridge. Side bulwark doors allow access to the side decks, which are well-protected by high bulwarks. The aft cockpit and covered sections of the side decks are finished with glued-down teak flooring, while the exposed areas have molded non-skid. Bulwark cap rails are varnished teak with snap-on protective covers.
The flybridge offers excellent visibility from the helm station. A bimini covers it, and a fiberglass arch supports the radar and antennas. Built-in seating, a table, a helm station, two helm seats, a wet bar with a grill, and a sink make this space great for entertaining.
The aft sun deck accommodates a tender with davit. There is additional room for electric bikes and chairs if needed.
The foredeck is accessible via a bulwark door on the starboard side that opens and leads to the walkaround deck. For safety, stainless steel rails surround the foredeck. There is a molded forward-facing settee with a cushion, a large anchor platform, an electric windlass, and a chain locker.
The primary engine, a Cummins 6C TA 8.3 430 HP, received a complete rebuild in April 2025. A secondary Yanmar 4JH3E 52 HP get-home engine with a separate shaft and feathering propeller provides redundancy. The vessel is equipped with a hydraulic steering system, Sidepower bow and stern thrusters, and Naiad stabilizers.
Water systems include a Village Marine water maker and a Torrid 20-gallon water heater. Climate control is provided by two CruiseAir reverse cycle A/C units with five air handlers. The vessel also features a Splendide washer/dryer combo unit.
The hull and cabin house were prepped and painted in 2016. Cabin house windows were re-bedded in 2020, and new deck house exterior window covers were installed in 2022. The teak and holly flooring has been preserved, and new upholstery for the salon, foredeck, aft deck, and flybridge was installed in 2021.
