Description
Wide, flat and stable hull; ballasted swinging keel; gennaker snuffer system; furling jib and minimised deck controls all enable an easy-to-handle and exciting planing and sailing experience. Being easily trailable and dismantled, she would fulfil racing ambitions in international one-design class as well as adventurous sea-camping.
NAVAL ARCHITECT : Samuel Manuard
INTERIOR DESIGN : EP Studio
Concept & R&D : Seascape
Easy handling: She can be easily sailed by a crew from 1 to 3 persons thanks to the large and clean cockpit, the furling jib, the gennaker snuffer system, high boom and a mast without a backstay, which allows for a bigger square-top mainsail.
Community: The One Design racing calendar comprises fully crewed windward-leeward races to adventurous long-distance double-handed or solo challenges. Owners can count on a friendly community of like-minded sailors.
Go anywhere: A retractable keel, removable rudders blades and a light carbon mast make First 18 SE truly trailable and slip-launchable, enabling discovery of new places, attendance at international events and meeting new sailors.
Safety: One of the safest in her category. Insumersibility chambers make her unsinkable, a swinging keel prevents structural damage in case of grounding, and twin rudders give complete control for safe downwind planing.
Sailing experience: Delivers a dinghy-like sailing experience but on a more stable and safer platform, thanks to the wide and flat hull shape and deep-ballasted swinging keel. Twin rudders ensure complete control even when planing at double-digit speeds. Simplified boat handling and deck controls include furling jib, gennaker with snuffer system, and a carbon mast without a backstay supporting a powerful square-top mainsail for fast sailing even in light wind conditions. The ergonomic and spacious open cockpit allows easy solo sailing or with up to 3 crew members.
Living onboard: Cabin accommodates up to two adults in a sea-camping manner, featuring a front V-berth and smart crew bags for storage under the cockpit. The large open cockpit is ideal for family sea camping and offers direct access to the sea in cruising mode. Fully retractable swinging keel and removable rudder blades allow access to shallow bays.
Community: An International Owners Community and events calendar support long-distance challenges and One Design racing across continents among a supportive group of like-minded sailors.
