Description

Exhilarating hiking single-hander with gennaker. Beautifully built using epoxy sandwich construction and carbon spars, the RS100 offers exhilarating racing and incorporates a host of features that make the performance widely attainable. Three rig sizes cover a wide sailor range and the cockpit is incredibly comfortable in all conditions, on open sea and inland water. The RS100 is responsive and highly rewarding for sailors who relish the challenge.

Features

  • Hull: Epoxy GRP composite sandwich construction for light weight, stiffness and a long competitive life. Easily driven with a reasonably fine bow and sufficient waterline width aft for stability. Flared topsides give reserve buoyancy and the moulded-in wings add more. Spray rails on the chines give excellent water release and a drier ride.
  • Foils: Pivoting centreboard and rudder chosen for user friendliness. Launching and recovery are easy; serious damage risk from grounding is largely eliminated.
  • Cockpit: Most people think the RS100 is just about the most comfortable hiking boat they've ever sailed. Mainsheet jammer well forward in the cockpit for smooth transition in light wind tacks and gybes, without digging the stern. Vang and Cunningham controls are led to the sides of the wings and the centreboard has a simple uphaul / downhaul system.
  • Spars: The carbon fibre mast is in two main parts for easy transport on a car roof or in a 20' shipping container. A removable bottom stump extends the mast length for the 10.2 m2 sail. Shrouds, but no forestay, means the rig can work automatically upwind. The shrouds stop the rig bending forwards under spinnaker loads downwind - important to keep the bow up and reduce nose diving without the need for a super-stiff mast which would be heavier and expensive. A compression strut vang - easy to adjust and highly effective.
  • Sails: Three mainsail size options: 10.2m, 8.4m and 7.4m. Asymmetric gennaker with big chute beneath the foredeck for quick hoists and drops. The lack of a forestay and the mast well aft mean that the spinnaker has a huge amount of space to blow through easily when gybing.
  • Options + Accessories: Top cover - breathable polycotton. Under cover - Nylon. Road trailer combi base. Padded rudder bag. Padded mast bag. Carbon fibre tiller extension. Burgee wind indicator. TackTick Micro compass. Race rope pack - tapered spinnaker halyard and sheets.
