Description

The RS300 is a fast, responsive, and challenging singlehanded classic sailing dinghy, one of RS Sailing's much loved Heritage Classes. Launched in 1998, it features innovative design elements for improved handling and performance. Its narrow waterline and fine entry provide easily driven acceleration and speed, while the flared topsides offer leverage and reserve stability.

The boat provides an ergonomic deck and cockpit design for comfortable hiking and has strong, lightweight epoxy GRP composite sandwich construction for durability and stiffness. The foils (pivoting centreboard and rudder) are epoxy GRP composite for a high performance, with easy launching and recovery, minimizing damage risk.

The rig includes a long mainsheet luff critical for power and speed, with a low track position keeping the center of effort down low and a steeply raked boom for clearance. The 'soft' sail and carbon composite mast provide excellent gust response. It has no shrouds allowing the boom to be fully squared on a run for maximum power and velocity made good (VMG). Two mainsail size options are available: 9.25m2 and 10m2.

This boat is perfect for sailors wanting a fast yet tactical boat with a fiercely friendly Class Association. As a Heritage Class, no new boats are currently in production, but the racing class remains active and thriving.
