BOOMERANG: CLOSED-BOW INTERPRETATION OF THE LEWIS OUTBACK

The Lewis Boomerang is a closed-bow inboard ski boat that shares its core dimensions and hull concept with the Outback, but delivers a traditional foredeck layout with enhanced weather protection and a distinctive profile.

As a closed-bow derivative of the Outback, the Boomerang retains the same length, beam and overall hull geometry, providing similar wake characteristics and handling. It is intended for skiing families who divide their time between slalom, barefoot and wakeboarding, and who value a medium-sized wake with reliable firmness and width. The hull incorporates a deep-V bow and keel section for a smoother ride in choppy water, negative chines to enhance tight turning and driving stability, spray relief pockets, dual tracking fins and a stepped transom pad that flattens wakes and channels clean water to the propeller.

The deck layout differs significantly from many older closed-bow designs. The Boomerang features higher topsides and a taller glass windscreen, offering improved wind protection for driver and crew. The walk-through centre section of the windscreen allows front-to-rear movement without climbing over the frame, improving safety and practicality. Bow storage is accessed from behind the observer seat, making use of the closed-bow volume for gear stowage.

The standard powertrain is a 6.2L 320 HP MPI MerCruiser inboard paired with a Velvet Drive transmission. This package provides ample pull for slalom skiers and barefooters, while still generating a wake profile suitable for wakeboarders who prefer a clean, medium-size ramp.

On deck, the Boomerang is equipped with a fibreglass engine hatch, adjustable drivers seat with armrest, TriDeck accents on glove box, dash, engine hatch and deck tread areas, and a rear platform pad. A competition ski mirror, centre ski pole, U-Dek step-through pad, Fusion stereo and premium plush marine carpet contribute to both performance and comfort.
