Description
The RS700 is a top-level single-handed skiff with performance equalization that allows winners to be both big or small. It features refined systems for user-friendliness and competitive sailing on the renowned RS Racing Circuits. This high-performance racing skiff is renowned for its speed, simplicity, and thrilling sailing experience.
Hull and Construction:
- Moderate hull form designed with little tendency to nosedive and flared topsides for reserve stability.
- Constructed using RS epoxy sandwich system to ensure ultra-light weight, long competitive life, and minimal water absorption.
- Spinnaker chute is mounted far aft to keep weight back and the spinnaker clear of water; chute mouth and pump action halyard make spinnaker handling simple and efficient.
- Secure cockpit helming position for ease of maneuvering and sail handling.
Rig:
- Carbon composite mast for ultra-light weight and dynamic gust response at the tip.
- Mainsail features a long luff for enhanced power and efficiency with a soft configuration of one full-length top batten and three short battens.
- Mylar sail fabric ensures strength, low stretch, and high visibility.
- Effective rake and flattener system reduces power in strong winds for better control.
- High-aspect asymmetric spinnaker with silicone-coated fabric for easier hoists and drops and extended sail life.
Foils:
- Daggerboard with rake adjustment to balance the boat in varying conditions.
- Lifting rudder assists with launching and recovery.
- Foils are made from GRP sandwich construction for high strength and lightweight performance.
Performance Equalisation:
- An adjustable width wing system ensures performance equalization, allowing sailors of different weights to be competitive.
Accessories:
- Equipped with Harken deck fittings and pro-gripped intermediate wing bars.
- Includes continuous kicker, Staymaster lowers, breathable polycotton top cover, nylon under cover, and padded rig bag.
- Features D12 rope trapeze lines, D12 spinnaker halyard, carbon tiller extension, wing foot loops, additional corrector weights, burgee wind indicator, tack tick micro compass with mast bracket, and race rope pack (jib, main, and kite sheets).
This skiff is designed for sailors seeking thrilling, high-speed single-handed racing with the versatility to compete effectively regardless of size or weight. It is not for the faint-hearted but enjoys a cult following for its excitement and performance.
