The story of Worldcat Boats
Thousands of customers worldwide enjoy World CatTM catamarans for their smooth, stable, and enjoyable ride. Originating over 25 years ago with the Glacier Bay Edition boats in the Pacific Northwest, World CatTM has grown to be the largest power catamaran manufacturer globally. Their state-of-the-art 140,000 square foot facility is located in Tarboro, North Carolina.
World CatTM offers a diverse range of boats, each designed to provide the smoothest ride on the water, enhancing comfort and confidence for cruising, fishing, diving, and exploring.
The company has a rich history of innovation and performance milestones, including launching the first World Cat in 1998, introducing revolutionary models over the years, winning the Bermuda Challenge, acquiring other renowned catamaran makers, and continuously expanding their lineup with innovative designs.
World CatTM celebrates a broad geographical presence with boats found on nearly every ocean and lake worldwide, from the South Pacific to Siberia, serving thousands of boaters safely over vast distances.
- 1998: First World Cat built in Greenville, NC with new hull molds. World Cat brand launched with three models.
- 2000: Launch of 246DC Dual Console, and winning the Bermuda Challenge.
- 2001-2009: Facility renovation and production transition to Tarboro, NC; multiple innovative models launched including the 33' TE Center Console, the 320EC with separate cabin and head; acquisition of Glacier Bay and Livingston Catamaran Boats.
- 2010-2017: Launch of family-friendly and inshore audience boats like the 320CC, 230CC, and 230DC; largest dual console outboard 320DC; introduction of 280CC-X and 280DC-X with new hull design.
- 2019-2024: Introduction of flagship 40' 400DC-X dual console and 400CC-X center console; new models like 260CC-X, 260DC-X, and 235 TE; celebration of 25th anniversary.
