Overview
About this vessel
The Hobie 33 boasts an exceptional reputation for punching well above its weight, delivering exhilarating speed, impressive offshore capability, and a pure sailing experience. Designed by Hobie Alter, this lightweight, trailerable racer has proven itself in serious offshore events like the Transpac and Pacific Cup, regularly outperforming larger boats under handicap. With its sleek lines, lifting keel, and efficient fractional rig, the Hobie 33 is also very well suited to inshore racing, as well as excelling double handed. Simple, responsive, and built for sailors who love to go fast, it's a cult classic with a well earned reputation as a giant killer. 'Emotional Rescue' is an excellent example of the design and one of the few here in Australia. Superbly maintained and very well equipped, it has been a regular competitor in the Hobart racing scene, and is rarely off the podium. This vessel even won the 2016 Launceston to Hobart Yacht Race, proving its offshore capability. Presented in excellent condition, with a complete inventory of 2022 Quantum Carbon Sails and 2023 Standing Rigging, this impressive vessel is ready for its next adventure. Dry stored on its trailer for minimal maintenance (and no marina fees!), this is a rare opportunity to enjoy a yacht of this pedigree and capability, ready for a summer of sailing!
Stepping inside, the interior is very well set up to minimise weight, whilst still providing excellent accommodation for overnight racing, or weekends onboard. There is a double v-berth forward, two pipe berths aft, and the settees are well set up with lee-cloths, providing good accommodation for the full crew. There is a functional galley with a two burner metho stove, icebox, and good storage. The package is complete with a manual toilet.
On deck, the vessel is well set up for both fully crewed and double handed racing a headsail furler, most lines lead back to the cockpit, and the mainsheet in easy reach of the tiller. The vessel is also set up for both Symmetrical and Asymmetrical spinnakers, providing plenty of versatility in longer races. There is a full suite of electronics including B&G wind/speed/depth, Navman chart plotter, AIS, VHF Radio, and even a tiller pilot.
This vessel is powered by a well maintained and reliable Yamaha 9.9HP 4 stroke outboard. This provides easy cruising at 6 knots. The package is also complete with a dual axle trailer.
Whether you're searching for your first yacht to experience the thrill of racing or aiming to achieve your most ambitious sailing goals, this Hobie 33 is ready to deliver it all.
