Custom designed and constructed to replicate 19th century Pearl Luggers of the era, the "Willie" was launched in 1985 by the then owner operator who conducted charters throughout the Broome tourist season and around local West Australian waters during the summer months. For an extended period, extensive overseas cruising was carried out with many exotic Asian destinations visited.

For the last decade the vessel has been in the hands of an experienced commercial operator and received a new lease on life in 2018 which included new masts and rigging, new 22.5Kva ONAN Generator, complete rewiring and extensive out of water servicing. The robust Gardner 8LXB uses only 10 liters per hour at 8 knots and is probably the most highly regarded engine ever produced for reliability and longevity.

Extensive accommodation is provided in three cabins with seven single bunks and a double in the master suite.
