About this vessel
Bavaria 38 keelboat, a cruising sailboat renowned for its sturdiness, comfort, and seaworthiness. The boat has been meticulously maintained, with extensive technical upkeep and numerous recent upgrades. Ideal for family cruising, offshore sailing, or living aboard.
The interior offers comfortable accommodation with 2 double cabins, a convertible saloon with double and single berth, and a bathroom with marine toilet and interior shower. Hot water is available when connected to shore power. A forward cabin mattress was custom-made in 2022. Ample storage includes 2 wardrobes, a large oilskin locker, and a large cockpit locker.
The boat is powered by a 2003 Volvo Penta Sail Drive 30 HP diesel engine with approximately 2,000 hours. Complete engine overhaul was performed at Gwen Marine in 2021, including replacement of propeller shaft and shaft bearing, replacement of exhaust elbow, and sail drive maintenance. A new propeller was fitted in 2022, a new starter in 2022, and new sail drive and reverse gear seals in September 2024. A new alternator was installed in 2025. Oil changes and filter replacements are performed every 150 hours.
The boat features a new commercial refrigeration unit and kitchen with gas and electric oven, 2-burner gas stove, double sink, and hot and cold water. Storage includes 3 upper lockers, 3 drawers, and 2 pot cupboards.
Power systems include 4 batteries: 2 x 165 Ah gel service batteries (2021), 1 new starter battery (02/2025), and 1 windlass battery (2024). Solar power is provided by 2 Marlec 110W bifacial solar panels on stainless steel masts with a new Victron MPPT controller (08/2024). Additional power sources include a shore power charger and a 220V / 12V inverter.
Electronics comprise a complete NKE console (2021) with depth sounder, speed log, wind speed sensor, GPS antenna, and compass. The NKE Gyropilot 3 autopilot with hydraulic actuator was upgraded in August 2024. An ICOM IC-M330GE Class D fixed VHF (2021) is installed alongside a portable VHF, AIS transmit/receive, and Navtex.
Safety equipment includes a life raft serviced in July 2024 (next service due July 2027), 2 fire extinguishers (2024), and an EPIRB inspected in July 2021 (next inspection due July 2026, battery expires February 2028).
The deck, cockpit, and rigging have undergone significant renovation. Cockpit benches were reupholstered in teak in 2022, the cockpit floor in 2024, and a new cockpit table and aft platform were added in 2024. A wood and stainless steel swim ladder was fitted in 2025. The deck renovation in 2024 included epoxy resin treatment with 160 g fabric and 2 coats, Interprotect epoxy primer (2 coats), and 2 coats of Interdeck deck lacquer. Complete standing rigging was replaced in 2021 and inspected and certified in May 2025 by Gréement Marine Service. The Profurl furling system was serviced in 2021, and halyards and sheets were replaced in 2022.
Sails include a new full-battened Dacron mainsail with 3 reefing points fitted in September 2024, with lazy bag and lazy jack. The old mainsail is kept as a spare. The genoa was serviced in 2025. A staysail and storm jib on detachable forestay were serviced in 2025. A symmetrical spinnaker is in very good condition.
A new Cabesto 4-person dinghy was added in February 2025. The boat features a manual windlass and electric windlass, roof cover, bimini, and spinnaker pole.
The boat is in good condition and ready to sail. Hull refit with antifouling is scheduled for 2026.
