Designed by the legendary Hank Kaufman, the Northshore 38 has remained one of the most successful cruiser/racers to be built in Australia. With their spacious interiors, impressive turn of speed, and ultimate versatility, they are regularly seen both racing and cruising around Australia with great success. The virtues of the design were acknowledged with the vessel winning the prestigious "Yacht of the Year Award" in 1986. This vessel is an excellent example of the design and has been under the same experienced ownership for the last 20 years. During this time, it has enjoyed social racing and exploring the stunning waters of Southern Tasmania. Stepping inside, the spacious interior is light and airy. The timber work and upholstery are in good condition throughout, and the quality of the original build of the vessel is immediately evident. To port is a generous timber dinette with seating for 6 in comfort. The accommodation is excellent for cruising with family and friends, and features a private double berth forward, a large double berth aft to starboard, and there are two additional settee berths available when additional accommodation is required. The well-appointed galley is to port and features a large top-loading fridge, 2-burner gas stove with oven, stainless steel sink with H/C pressurised water, and excellent storage. Opposite is the traditional chart table, which is sure to please even the most discerning sailor. The package is complete with a private bathroom with an electric toilet and vanity.
On deck, the cockpit is very well set up for short-handed sailing. The autopilot is easily accessed from the wheel, and with the furling headsail, mainsail in a boom bag with lazy jacks, and all lines lead back to the cockpit, sailing is a breeze even single-handed. Having been extensively cruised, this vessel also has a stunning timber cockpit table, a gas barbecue on the stern, and an electric anchor winch.
This vessel is powered by a well-maintained Volvo Penta 28HP Diesel Engine. This provides easy cruising at 6kts and has been professionally maintained.
