About this vessel
EGRET is hull #28 of the formidable Nordhavn 40 built in California by Pacific Asian Enterprises. The N40 has been known to cruise around the world with her impressive range and excellent sea-keeping capability.
EGRET has been extremely well maintained (e.g. bottom-job August 2023) and has undergone in excess of $125k of improvements over the past 3 years. She is well spec'd with a relatively low-hour Lugger main and Yanmar wing engine, upgraded active fin stabilization, bow and stern thrusters, water-maker, and other systems. Differentiating this Nordhavn 40 from the others are her custom cockpit hardtop and innovative paravane stabilizer system.
The foam core fiberglass hardtop keeps the cockpit dry and shaded. Her new full canvas enclosure makes the cockpit a pleasant living space in most any weather. The hardtop is supported by three 1.5" structural 316 stainless stanchions allowing for the tender cradle to be moved aft (if desired) to make additional space on the boat deck.
The paravane system uses the booms and struts fitted on many N40's (including the around the world boat). It is improved on EGRET with rigging that allows singlehanded deployment and recovery using a winch fitted to the mast. Paravanes are safely recovered to the boom ends (rather than recovered by hand to the stern) to prevent accidental contact with the boat or crew.
EGRET's current owner is shopping for a larger boat after cruising her extensively from Maine to the Bahamas.
