Designed by the renowned N. Herreshoff, Archangelo is a stunning double-ended schooner built primarily of mahogany and oak. Her sail area is perfectly balanced across two wooden masts, offering exceptional agility, stability, and ease of handling. Thanks to her rating certificate, she performs very well in regattas, yet she is equally a cruiser, ideal for sharing unforgettable moments with family and friends. Archangelo is a rare opportunity to own a true icon of classic yachting.
Refit History
Built in 1892, she underwent a huge refit in 1983 by François Tos at Eurovoiles in Hyeres, France. A Parisian notary, Patrick Remme, found the yacht in Italy in a very poor condition under the name Natanthal and brought her to Hyères for full restoration, completed in 1983, when she was renamed Archangelo.
Later, the boat was owned by Joel Dressel, captain of the schooner América, who commissioned a major restoration from Astilleros Mallorca. The boat was registered under a new name, La Brillanta. Eventually, the schooner was acquired by Nicola Calderoni, who brought her to Pollença.
In 1995, a major refit included a new teak deck, replacement of mainmast, booms, gaffs, and stainless steel standing rigging, along with a complete new set of sails. La Brillanta was awarded the "Best Restored Yacht" at the XI Trofeo Almirante Conde de Barcelona.
In 1997, she received new sail covers, awnings and other covers. Her current owner purchased her in 2007, registered her in Spain, and restored her original name, Archangelo. Since 2007, Archangelo has been a companion at sea and a setting for family life, with the owner's grandchildren learning to sail aboard her and participating as crew in classic regattas.
Interior Layout
Archangelo's open interior layout invites you in through the stern, where the chart table and galley form the welcoming heart of the yacht—a space where navigation, cooking, and conversation blend naturally as part of life at sea. The engine sits discreetly beneath the companionway steps, leaving the interior beautifully calm and uncluttered.
Aft, Archangelo features two cozy single berths, one to port and one to starboard, for guests or crew. To port, the chart table feels like a captain's corner: practical, intimate, and full of classic charm. To starboard, the galley is thoughtfully arranged, with everything within comfortable reach for preparing meals underway or at anchor. At the other side of the galley is the head, equipped with a toilet, sink, shower, and mirror, offering practicality without sacrificing the traditional ambiance.
Amidships lies her bright saloon. Two long sofas to port and starboard create the perfect setting for relaxing, or sharing stories after a day under sail. Generous storage beneath the seating keeps the space open and airy. The forward full-beam owners double berth offers quiet comfort and a gentle reminder of why yachts like Archangelo inspire such enduring devotion.
Racing History
Archangelo has an outstanding rating certificate, which is why the yacht is perfect for regattas. She has participated in numerous classic regattas, including El Trofeo Almirante Conde de Barcelona, Trofeo Cormorán del Reial Club Nàutic Port de Pollença, and Regatta Illes Balears Classic.
