Overview
About this vessel
This beautiful 45' sloop Carillion of Wight was born from the iconic design philosophy of Sparkman & Stephens and is a symbol of elegance on the water.
Carillion has been owned by the same family for nearly 40 years. During the period between 2012 and 2013 around 10,000 man hours were devoted to bring Carillion to her current condition, resulting in her winning the Conde de Barcelona regatta in 2015. With her new carbon rig and white coloured carbon sails, she has become a competitive force in IRC and classic regattas. No expense has been spared in renovating her to this incredible "better then new" condition.
Interior
The interior is beautifully built and includes many small details that highlight the craftsmanship involved in this very special boat. The stylish white interior, contrasted by rich mahogany, evokes a timeless feel. A clever design feature includes tinted plexiglass instead of walls, separating the saloon, galley and skipper's cabin. This innovative choice maximizes the flow of natural light throughout the living space below deck. The saloon is fitted with comfortable settees, original foldable dining table, practical storage space and a carpet on a teak sole for additional comfort. The hull frames that S&S has managed to integrate into the interior design are a striking feature. Both v-berth and skipper's cabin offer comfortable double berths. The galley features a beautiful and efficient layout, offering all the amenities needed for onboard cooking.
Exterior
The construction of this vessel displays a combination of sturdy oak framing and elegant mahogany carvel planking. The oak frame provides a robust foundation, while the mahogany planks contribute to both the vessel's strength and its rich, warm interior appearance. Carillion's wooden hull has a thin layer of fiberglass scrim and 6 coats of white gloss spray on top. Its mast and rigging was replaced in 2018 and an extra 2 meters were added to the lengths of the two-spreader carbon mast. Carillion's deck has a gentle and very aesthetic camber. This nearly flush deck design not only makes her look modern and classy but also keeps the deck clean and simple. The deck hatches have flush fitting, adding to the boat's smooth appearance.
Layout
The layout of Carillion includes a spacious cockpit for convenient sail handling and navigation. Below deck, you will find a comfortable and well-appointed saloon for living space amidships. A cozy double v-berth at the bow with a separate access to the head that is located at the port side. The head contains a full height shower and has two leading doors. Moving towards the aft, a practical and functional skipper's cabin with the chart table and a double berth located to starboard and a well organized galley for meal preparation to port.
