About this vessel
The Griffon was released to the yachting public as the new and improved Centaur. Designed by Ed Dubois, she was a bit of a pocket rocket and in the right hands has a good turn of speed. This is the Mark II version which boasted an interior more in keeping with some 30 footers around at the time. 'Selene' is the more desirable, a fin keeled version and is in excellent condition for her years. Her key selling point is the recent installation of a BUKH 24ME in Spring 2025. This was a reconditioned engine but will provide many years of reliable boating. She is ashore every year for antifoul and polish. Good suit of sails and decent electronic navigation aids. This yacht is an ideal safe family cruiser or will suit a cruising couple ready to downsize. Her current owner has circumnavigated the UK and cruised to the Orkneys and Holland.
Vessel powered by an inboard Bukh DV24ME inboard diesel engine. This 24hp work horse is used by lifeboats the world over and was installed in the Spring of 2025. She has completed 13.5 hours since her installation. Reduction gearbox driving a stainless steel shaft and 2-bladed bronze propeller.
12/240V systems on board. Bank of 2X12V batteries providing engine start and domestic power. Battery selector switch. There is a battery charger with electronic readout for current battery condition. Shore power including cable.
Deck stepped aluminium spars. Stainless steel standing rigging and Terylene running rigging. Slab reefing mainsail with 3 reefs. Roller furling headsail system. Vessel rigged for spinnaker including pole. Sails include:

- Roller furling genoa with NEW UV strip
- Hi Cut No2 Jib
- Cruising chute
Beautifully appointed interior with solid teak pieces and teak veneers. Teak and holly flooring protected by a removable carpet. Upholstery is mid green velour. Great standing headroom throughout the saloon. Galley on port side with Flavel Vanessa gas fuelled oven with 2-burner hob and grill. Stainless steel sink with manually pumped freshwater 12V fridge built into starboard saloon berth. Saloon seating berths either side of central drop leaved table. Additional quarter berth aft on starboard side. Heads compartment with Lavac sea toilet on starboard side between saloon and forepeak. Hanging space opposite Bow cabin with double V-berth. 12V lighting throughout. Opening hatch for light and ventilation
GRP constructed sailing yacht with fin keel. Transom mounted rudder with skeg protection and varnished tiller. White topsides with 'Westerly' blue and gold band and coveline striping. Solid wood toe rail with aluminium stanchions. Stainless steel bow and stern rails. Side decks and coachroof finished in pale blue non slip paint. Deep safe cockpit with large sail locker on port side with vented gas locker opposite. Locker tops and cockpit sole finished in diamond point treadmaster panels. Coachroof with teak grab handles and port lights to saloon. Vessel antifouled annually in the Spring.
