Few yachts in Australia can match the pedigree, performance, and presence of ABRACADABRA. This iconic Bill Tripp–designed Tripp 47 is a true ocean thoroughbred with an enviable Sydney Hobart race record—yet today she also shines as a fast, comfortable, and energy-efficient cruising yacht.
From podium finishes in the Sydney to Hobart, to success in major offshore classics, Abracadabra has proven time and again that she is not only quick, but exceptionally well-balanced, strong, and seaworthy.
Abracadabra is a regular Sydney Hobart competitor with nine Hobart campaigns to her name. Highlights include: 1st PHS Overall – 2015, defeating all Division 1 boats; 2nd Division 1 PHS – 2017; 6th PHS Overall – 2017; 3rd PHS – 2019 Sydney to Gold Coast (Noakes Race); Multiple Top 10 Hobart finishes. She has been raced and maintained to a high standard, with continuous upgrades by experienced owners.
Abracadabra underwent a significant refit in 2025, including new standing rigging and halyards, a keel-bolt inspection, a new carbon mainsail, and new Cutlass bearing and PSS shaft seal. These upgrades substantially enhance both performance and reliability, making her a safe and confidence-inspiring family cruising yacht.
The current owners have enjoyed many memorable coastal adventures with their children for the 4000 miles to the Torres Strait and back. While Abracadabra remains race-ready, a series of thoughtful additions ensure genuine onboard comfort: Furling headsail, spray dodger, and sun awning; Comfortable forward V-berth, with multiple saloon and aft sleeping options; Open, functional cabin layout featuring a practical galley and enclosed head.
Abracadabra is fitted with multiple solar panels, providing generous renewable power to run onboard systems. This allows for extended stays at anchor and cruising independence without constant reliance on shore power or the engine.
Abracadabra is powered by a 47HP Yanmar diesel engine, providing confident motoring and excellent range when the wind drops. A tender with a 5HP Mercury outboard is also included, perfect for shore access or exploring bays and coves.
