About this vessel
The owners bought Valtair in late 2002, and she was extensively refitted and refurbished from the bare hull to new riggings and sails. It took nearly two years in Brisbane to re-commission Valtair. As much as further tonnage was added from her minimum weight ratio for pure racing to suit the present cruising needs of modern comfort such as generator, air conditioning system, watermaker, additional fuel and water tank, furling boom, and a host of other creative comfort furniture and easy navigational equipment.
Valtair has five double cabins: two at the fore for the crew, one at mid section and two at the aft. The two aft cabins share a head, the mid section cabin has an attached head, and the fore cabins share a head between them. A large saloon cum-dining area at the mid section offers a panoramic view, and the cockpit can be used for lounging and outdoor dining under the shade of the bimini.
With all the hydraulic and automatic equipment on board, Valtair can be sailed easily with minimum crew. However, she has been provided with two permanent staff: a husband as skipper and wife as mate, plus two other volunteers that may be recruited on board from time to time.
