This vessel was originally built in 1971 at Dubigeon-Normandie, France, then underwent major reconstruction and renovation in 2005 and 2013 with substantial investment. The 2005 and 2013 refurbishments included comprehensive upgrades to the hotel accommodations and passenger cabins, public spaces, new restaurant, and galley. All systems were modernised, including new vacuum systems, large-capacity air conditioning units, and new hot and cold water piping throughout. The vessel is reported to be in excellent condition and is fully compliant with SOLAS 2010 regulations.
