Owned and maintained by a professional captain and sailing instructor, this Pearson 385 stands out for her mechanical reliability and thoughtful upgrades. The new Yanmar engine alone represents a massive value add, giving the next owner peace of mind for years to come.
She presents as a well-maintained, ready-to-go cruiser with a comfortable liveaboard layout, strong systems, and practical cruising upgrades.
The vessel features a spacious 2 cabin / 2 head layout, ideal for couples, families, or liveaboard use. The large aft owner's stateroom includes a custom mattress, while the forward guest cabin has private access to the second head. The bright and airy salon with excellent headroom features a folding dining table. The galley includes a gimbaled propane stove and oven, and a top-loading refrigerator with freezer box to help preserve energy. Two full heads provide comfort and privacy, with the aft head being a dry head where the shower basin is separate from the manual flush toilet.
The hull is solid fiberglass construction, designed for stable, comfortable cruising with moderate draft and an ICW-friendly rig. The keel-stepped mast provides peace of mind, especially when offshore. Perpendicular spreaders permit the mainsail to be fully-eased when sailing off the wind. Standing rigging has been maintained and replaced incrementally as needed, with chainplates replaced in 2018 and a new mast step installed in 2018. The mainsail is equipped with Lazy jacks and stack pack for easy sail handling, and the mainsheet is conveniently located just aft of the helm for quick de-powering in a puff.
The deck features walkable surfaces with a secure center cockpit design. A hard top bimini provides durability and shade, complemented by a full dodger with integrated handholds and eisenglass panels. Custom cockpit cushions keep crew comfortable underway or at anchor. The teak caprail and stainless steel rubrail enhance both aesthetics and function. Dorade vents promote excellent ventilation. The aft deck provides ample space for coolers, jerry cans, or sunbathing, while the aft lazarette locker stores docklines, fenders, and shore power cord. An aft deck Magma propane grill is mounted at the stern rail, and a folding swim ladder provides easy water access.
Ground tackle includes a powered windlass, Bruce anchor, and 150 feet of chain, with a Danforth secondary anchor and 150 feet of rode. A dedicated locker just aft of the powered windlass stores the anchor bridle and washdown hose. Integrated dinghy davits are fitted (dinghy not included).
The electrical system includes 350 watts of solar on an integrated hard-top bimini, four AGM batteries, a battery charger/inverter, a single 30-amp shore power system, and dockside air conditioning, providing an efficient cruising power setup for extended stays off-grid.
Electronics include a Garmin chartplotter, a Westmarine VHF and mic at the binnacle, a Furuno 1623 radar scope at the binnacle with radar dome mounted to a dedicated stern pedestal, and a Ritchie compass at the binnacle. Redundancy at the nav desk includes a second VHF and second GPS chartplotter.
A custom hard top features integrated solar panels and grabrails. Bottom paint was completed in February 2025. The new propeller was installed in March 2025. The 135% genoa is mounted on a furler installed in October 2021.
