About this vessel
Designed by Joe Adams with additional interior design work by Graham Radford, this A40v2 is a round bilged hull form in 5mm rolled steel plate over 50mm x 100mm steel frames. Built and launched in 1991 in Sydney by Arthur Anderson and project managed by Joe Adams himself, she was designed and built as a very capable and fast bluewater cruiser. She is a great cruiser or liveaboard.
In 2005 her hull, topsides and deck were completely sandblasted and she had coats of epoxy primer and many coats of two-pack polyurethane applied giving a very good finish.
A later development in the Adams 40 is version two. This style of accommodation was first used in the Adams Traditional 36 and has been a favourite amongst cruising yachtsmen. The aft end of the house has a permanent dodger to afford some protection from the elements whilst still allowing the crew to be out in the cockpit. The extra headroom and feeling of open space makes the yacht very comfortable.
The accommodation features a comfortable double berth on the port side and a pilot berth and navigation station to starboard, and a large V-berth forward.
The hull and deck are in excellent condition. The interior is all polished timber with a V-berth, saloon, galley, navigation station with large swivel chair, one open quarter berth and a quarter berth cabin.
The centreboard is currently in the closed position and will need some encouragement to come down, as it seems to be sticky.
