About this vessel
Designed and built by renowned East Coast boat builder Barry Kean (Apprenticeship with Clem Masters, Leading boat builder for Kay Cottee yachts). Flashpoint is constructed of strip plank WRC, epoxy sheathed inside and out. She was first launched in 1994 and actively sailed and raced by Barry until 2000 when he sold her. He then bought her back in 2016 and over the last 6 years has completely refurbished her. She presents now in a nearly new condition and has yet to be launched since refit finished. Flashpoint has a ballasted lifting keel that can be raised and lowered using an electric winch and has a 300kg bulb on the bottom. She will be competitive with most performance Trailer Sailers of similar lengths like Ross 7.8's and Elliot 7.8's. She would be an ideal candidate for the "City to Surf" Inshore yacht race and with her lifting keel perfect for gunkholing around Moreton Bay and the Sandy Straits.
