'Ohana' is a rare and exceptional bluewater cruising yacht -- purpose-designed by one of the world's great naval architects, German Frers, meticulously built in Cornwall, UK, and kept in Sydney by owners who have spent the past five years investing nearly $300,000 in comprehensive improvements. She is ready to go anywhere on earth, and she is ready right now to cross oceans.
The German Frers Mystic 60 is not a production yacht. Alan Morgan commissioned Frers to design his ideal offshore cruiser, and only a handful were ever built. Ohana was completed in 2001 by the Swain family in Penryn, Cornwall -- built to a standard befitting her pedigree, with a Divynicell-cored composite hull, Hallspar mast and rigging, North Sails, and chainplates built into the hull to eliminate deck penetration entirely. After sailing to Sydney in 2004 she lived at Holmeport Marina on Pittwater, until her current owners bought her in 2020 and set about bringing her to an exceptional standard.
The result is a 60-foot blue water yacht with the soul of a classic and the systems of a modern offshore passage-maker.
3 cabins, each with 2 berths and ensuite bathroom. Saloon with seating and dining area, upholstered in Alcantara. Forecastle with full workshop and ample storage.
Hallspar mast and rigging with 2 forestays with Reckmann furling plus baby stay. Full sail inventory from North Sails -- mainsail, genoa, staysail, spinnaker. New integrated mainsail cover -- lazy jack boom bag.
Perkins Sabre engine with complete overhaul 2021-2026. Generator. Schenker watermaker (new). Solar panels. Starlink receiver. B&G Zeus electronics -- chart plotter, wind, radar, depth.
Lewmar bow thruster (overhauled). Andersen winches, serviced and kept under covers. Dodger, bimini, hatch covers, winch covers. Walker Bay 11ft RIB on davits with unused Tohatsu 6hp outboard. Teak veneer deck with teak trim throughout.
A blue water yacht of this calibre rarely comes to market in this condition. When last sold her hull was surveyed and tapped by Blue Water Marine and inspected by leading naval architect Andy Dovell -- no anomalies found. Her Divynicell-core construction means she is robust offshore even in the unlikely event of water ingress between inner and outer shells. Her chainplates are built into the hull, eliminating deck penetration entirely.
She has a storied history of passage making. When launched she sailed from England to the Canaries, returned to the UK for a keel spacer modification and taller mast, after which she made the offshore passage to Sydney in 2004. She has been in Australian waters ever since, in the care of owners who understood what they had and invested accordingly.
If you are looking for a serious offshore yacht -- one that can take you to New Zealand, to the Pacific islands, or around the world -- without the years of preparation typically required to get a blue water boat ready, 'Ohana' is worthy of your serious attention.
