Luna Dawn is a well-maintained 2003 Bavaria 41 designed by J&J Design and built by Bavaria Yachtbau, Germany. Offering the sought-after three cabin, two heads layout, she provides comfortable accommodation for family cruising, extended stays aboard and offshore passages. Significant investment in recent years includes standing rigging replacement, saildrive seal renewal, multiple seacock replacements and a professionally designed sprayhood and full cockpit enclosure fitted at the end of 2024.
The Bavaria 41 remains one of the most popular cruising yachts in her class, combining generous interior volume, straightforward sail handling and dependable sailing performance.
The interior offers spacious and comfortable accommodation across three double cabins. A spacious forward owner's cabin is complemented by two generous aft double cabins. The saloon features a large dining area, and there is a dedicated chart table with excellent storage throughout. Two heads compartments are provided, along with one dedicated shower compartment fitted with two manual Jabsco marine toilets and a holding tank. The galley includes an original Dometic refrigerator in working order, twin stainless steel sinks, and a gas system remains installed; the oven has been removed by current owners.
Reliable auxiliary power is provided by a Volvo Penta diesel engine which has been regularly maintained and performs well according to the current owners. The engine was serviced in July 2024 and reported to be in very good condition with no remedial work required. The saildrive diaphragm was replaced in 2021.
The yacht is configured for easy short-handed cruising with a fractional sloop rig featuring a Selden aluminium mast and spars. Standing rigging was replaced in 2021 and is stainless steel. In-mast furling mainsail and furling genoa systems are fitted with Harken self-tailing winches. Both sails remain in fair and serviceable condition, with new genoa sheets fitted in July 2024.
A comprehensive navigation package includes Raymarine RL70C chartplotter and GPS, Raymarine radar, Raymarine ST60 Tri-Data system, Raymarine wind speed and direction instrument, and a Plastimo compass. Raymarine ST6001 autopilot is installed. Communications and safety equipment includes an Icom MA-500TR AIS transponder, Simrad VHF radio, and portable Icom handheld VHF.
The deck layout is practical and secure. A Lofrans Cayman electric anchor windlass with anchor locker provides ground tackle. The large sociable cockpit features teak seating, a cockpit table, and spacious locker storage. Recent additions include a new fitted sprayhood and professionally designed and fitted full cockpit enclosure, both installed in December 2024.
Recent maintenance improvements include seacock replacements following recommendations, rudder blister repair, renewal of the majority of fenders, and new genoa sheets fitted in July 2024. Luna Dawn stands out thanks to her desirable three-cabin, two-heads layout and the substantial investment made by the current owners.
