About this vessel
EIGHT BALL is a unique boat that can completely dominate fully crewed racing or when reconfigured, dominate short-handed sailing in its fully electric mode. The boat was created to be fast off the dock and fast to be put away. It features a Stack Pack mainsail cover and a custom installed under-deck furler for reduced windage and maximum jib luff length, with both sails deployed via a simple push of a custom remote control button.
The boat can be tiller steered with the standard tiller or wheel steered with the custom composite steering wheel. In single-handed configuration, the tiller is removed, a high modulus jib boom is added, the wheel is installed, and the dodger is in place. The forward steering position allows single-handers to access all halyard controls and maintain weight at maximum beam while driving, while the dodger provides weather protection and good placement for spinnaker douses.
The J/100 is designed with a comfortable, self-bailing cockpit featuring full-length seats with backrests and a full-width dodger for weather protection. The simple interior layout includes two berths and a marine head, with a forward V-berth as an optional addition. A 10 HP diesel auxiliary with folding prop is standard should the wind die.
