About this vessel
The Hunter/Legend 31 is a modern bilge keeler offering good accommodation for a 31 footer and which also sails well. Built by Luhrs Marine in Portland, Dorset to designs by Warren Luhrs, she offers a classic finish down below, and the American design ensures plenty of space with generous beds, a large galley and spacious heads/shower compartment.
On deck, the cockpit is spacious, and the trademark "Legend Arch" means that the mainsheet is out of harms way and easy for the helmsman to reach for short-handed sailing. The bilge-keel configuration is well suited to shallow harbours and drying moorings. The generous interior provides two separate double cabins, additional saloon berths, a practical galley and separate heads.
These are designed to be comfortable and easy to sail for couples, and the bilge keels offer the opportunity for creek-crawling and drying moorings to save on mooring costs. The hull is Kevlar-reinforced and balsa-cored, with a balanced spade rudder with rack and pinion steering and bronze through-hulls below the waterline. The rig is an anodised B&R backstayless design with double spreaders, with standing rigging professionally inspected and new halyards fitted.
