Designed by Philippe Briand with interiors by Andrew Winch, the Jeanneau Yachts 51 combines elegant European styling with genuine offshore capability. Built as Jeanneau's premium cruising range, she offers rewarding sailing performance, luxurious accommodation and the confidence to undertake serious blue water passages.
Ocean Dream II was purchased in France by her current owners for what was intended to be a five-year circumnavigation. She has since carried them safely across the Atlantic, throughout the Caribbean, Panama, French Polynesia, Fiji, Vanuatu and ultimately to Australia. Every upgrade was made with one purpose in mind: creating a capable, comfortable and reliable yacht for long-distance short-handed cruising. Their plans changed only because of the arrival of grandchildren back home—not because the boat fell short of expectations.
Her powerful hull, twin wheels, substantial fin keel and Yanmar 110hp shaft-drive engine deliver rewarding sailing performance while remaining easy to handle by a couple. The spacious aft cockpit, protected yet open for entertaining, together with the drop-down swim platform, became one of the owners' favourite features for life at anchor—from morning swims to sunset evenings throughout the Caribbean and Pacific.
Below decks, the light ALPI Oak interior is bright and inviting. The three-cabin owner's layout, complemented by a dedicated utility cabin, offers generous accommodation, while the forward owner's suite provides a centreline berth, private ensuite and excellent storage. The well-appointed galley, large refrigeration capacity, washer/dryer and Webasto heating make extended living aboard both practical and comfortable.
Her sail wardrobe includes a furling mainsail, high-clew genoa, self-tacking jib, Code Zero and asymmetric spinnaker, all managed with electric Harken winches and quality deck hardware. Carefully maintained throughout her ownership, she has been hauled annually, with regular engine servicing, rig inspections, antifouling and continual investment in preventative maintenance.
Fully imported and Australian tax paid, Ocean Dream II represents a rare opportunity to acquire a genuinely proven offshore cruiser that has already completed the hard miles and received the upgrades most buyers eventually undertake themselves.
