ANNIE M is a custom-built Amel 52 ketch, based on the legendary Amel Mango hull and comprehensively transformed over the past twenty years into a modern, highly capable bluewater passagemaker. Acquired by her current owners with the intention of serious offshore cruising, the yacht has been thoughtfully and systematically rebuilt—structurally, mechanically, and cosmetically—to meet contemporary expectations for safety, comfort, and long-range reliability.
Beginning with her robust hull, most bulkheads have been reinforced with Sapele overlay and freshly tabbed to the hull in the style of the newer Amel yachts. Tankage, electrical systems, rigging, and onboard systems have been renewed or upgraded throughout, reflecting an uncompromising approach to offshore preparation.
Her proven ketch rig, protected center cockpit, and well-balanced hull form deliver the seakindly motion, redundancy, and heavy-weather confidence for which Amel yachts are renowned. Below decks, ANNIE M offers a warm, secure, and intelligently reconfigured two-cabin layout, with a beautiful custom-built salon table, fully rebuilt galley with Corian countertops and modern refrigeration, new heads and plumbing, upgraded climate control, and carefully executed joinery throughout. Systems accessibility, redundancy, and serviceability remain central to her design, underscored by a complete ABYC-compliant rewire, modern Victron power management, upgraded navigation electronics, new rigging and sails, and numerous safety enhancements.
The result is a yacht that retains the core virtues that made Henri Amel's designs legendary—strength, offshore competence, and conservative engineering—while benefiting from decades of knowledgeable ownership and continuous investment. ANNIE M is a proven ocean-going design, extensively refit and fully prepared for extended passagemaking and comfortable cruising.
The Amel 52 is known for its robust construction, thoughtful ergonomics, and practical offshore layout. Her interior is finished in warm varnished mahogany with white overhead panels and teak-and-holly sole. Amel's reputation for bluewater-ready systems and secure living spaces is evident throughout. She sleeps six to seven in two private cabins plus the salon and passageway berths, offering exceptional comfort for long passages.
The forward stateroom features two generous berths and substantial storage in drawers and lockers.
Located aft of the forward cabin to starboard, the head includes a marine toilet, sink with pressure hot/cold water, shower and storage lockers.
The spacious salon includes a large U-shaped settee to port surrounding a fixed dining table with integrated storage. To starboard is a sea berth with ample storage below and outboard. Many lockers, shelves, and under-settee storage create excellent capacity for provisions and cruising gear.
A dedicated nav station is positioned to starboard and aft of the salon. The full-size forward facing L-shaped chart table provides organized space for navigation tools, radios and instruments.
In the passageway aft from the salon to the aft cabin there is a pilot berth outboard along the hull side. There is also access to the engine room.
The aft cabin is accessed through a walkthrough passageway and offers a private double berth offset to port. To starboard, there is a settee and desk. Storage includes hanging lockers, shelves, and cabinets.
Adjacent to the aft cabin, the second head includes a marine toilet, sink, hot/cold pressure water, shower, and multiple lockers.
The galley is secure and functional—hallmarks of Amel design. Located to port near the companionway, the galley provides excellent ergonomics at sea and includes a seaward gimballed propane stove with oven, Corian countertops, and modern drawer-style refrigeration and freezers.
The Amel 52 features a well-balanced ketch rig, famed for versatility and manageable sail handling offshore. All standing and running rigging was replaced in 2020 by Brion Toss Yacht Riggers. Aluminum main and mizzen masts are supported by 1x19 wire standing rigging, with strong track low friction luff tracks and electric headsail furling for both genoa and staysail. The yacht carries a full offshore sail inventory including mainsail with full battens and three reefs, mizzen, genoa, jib, spinnakers, storm trysail, and storm jib.
The Amel 52 is solidly constructed, with a hand-laid fiberglass hull and deck engineered for world cruising. Known for durability, seakindliness, and offshore reliability, the 52 features a center cockpit protected by a hard dodger, deep bulwarks, and a solid stainless handrail surrounding the entire deck higher than standard. Her hull is solid hand-laid fiberglass laminate with substantial reinforcement.
