An exceptionally well-maintained and upgraded Hallberg-Rassy 46, Build number 194 — one of the last built iconic Hallberg-Rassy 46. Fully equipped for Bluewater cruising with a doghouse, new standing rig and a replacement deck with no teak. Located in Portimao on the south coast of Portugal, an ideal launching point for Mediterranean, Atlantic, and Algarve coast sailing.
The Hallberg-Rassy 46 is one of the most popular models from the well-known high-quality Swedish shipbuilder. This is the perfect boat size for both Bluewater cruising and a comfortable life onboard. When the HR 46 was introduced, it won the Yacht of The Year award in the respected German magazine Yacht.
The center cockpit is a safety feature with everything optimally placed so that the boat can be easily sailed by one or two people. The large doghouse gives excellent protection from the elements of weather, sun and the sea.
Below deck, the interior of the spacious areas is finished in quality solid classic teak and light-colored fabrics. The execution of S/Y LuSea is a 3-cabin version with a double bed master cabin in the aft, a double bed guest cabin in the front and another guest cabin midship on the port side. On the port side of the salon is the navigation station and an L-shaped sofa with a foldable dining table. On the starboard side is the well-planned galley and 2 comfortable fixed armchairs. The interior is equipped with amenities including air-conditioning, washing machine, an extra built-in separate refrigerator/freezer, Webasto heater and more.
S/Y LuSea has only had 2 owners and has proved itself to be the perfect boat for long-distance sailing, both in colder waters as well as in the Mediterranean Sea and the Caribbean. In the fall of 2025, she was hauled out in Portimao to be upgraded with a new rig and a replacement of the teak deck along with many other updates. The teak deck has been removed; all the screw holes have been epoxy treated and the deck has been gel coated and painted. All work has been done by professional riggers and professional service companies in Portimao.
The first owner mainly sailed S/Y LuSea in the waters around Great Britain with some longer cruises.
The second and current owners sailed her from Great Britain along the Atlantic coast of Europe and into the Mediterranean during 2012–2016. At the end of 2016 they crossed the Atlantic and sailed the Caribbean islands, and sailed back via Bermuda and The Azores to Europe. LuSea is now on land in Portimao in Portugal, close to Faro Airport. After their Bluewater sailing and fantastic adventures, the owners now have new projects on land and therefore have decided to sell S/Y LuSea, perfectly ready to set sails for new adventures.
The current owners kept updating and renewing the boat as they sailed. Maintenance and updates include a new standing rig (2025), new standing rigging by Pete Keeping Riggers in Portimao (2025), teak deck removal with epoxy treatment and deck gel coat and paint by SlickHull in Portimao (2025), new Elvstrom furling Gennaker 130m² (2014–2016), exchange of both holding tanks in stainless steel (2014–2016), new stainless steel Rocna 33kg anchor plus 100m stainless steel Waelder/Germany chain 8mm (2014–2016), new main and genoa sails (2016), new upholstery in saloon and master bedroom (2014–2016), new sunbrella bimini (2014–2016), new 2x 300Wp/24V solar panels with Victron MPPT (2017–2018), new Ray90 VHF with active speaker (2017–2018), new high-pressure pump and motor for water maker (2020), sanding the underwater parts/hull with 2 times new epoxy coating and 3 times antifouling (2021), new sunshades (2022–2023), 2 new water maker membranes (2022–2023), Starlink dish and router mounted and installed for fast Internet connection (2022–2023), engine and generator and water maker service (April 2023), light sanding and 3 coats of new antifouling (2024), new huge AGM battery bank (2024), Volvo Engine work with new turbo, manifold and new exhaust elbow (2024), and generator service (2024).
