The Italia Yachts 16.98 project revives the tradition of great ocean-going fast cruisers, reinterpreted with modern hydrodynamic knowledge.
IY 16.98 is a genuine blue water yacht, conceived for unlimited cruising. It combines high performance, comfort, and timeless style, offering the assurance of safe navigation even in demanding sea conditions.
Italia Yachts 16.98 is a complete, all-round sailing yacht with classic lines updated with the latest design trends. It is easy to handle, even with a family crew, and ideal for spending extended periods at sea—enjoying all the pleasures that sailing life has to offer.
Comfort and Functionality
The deck layout, inspired by maxi-yachts, features three separate cockpit areas, wide clear walkways, and multiple sunbathing spots. Winches for sail adjustments are perfectly sized and can be electrified.
Various customizable interior layouts and moodboards are available. The yacht offers three cabins, three bathrooms, and a forward crew cabin with full amenities. The clean, linear style features surfaces in natural wood veneers, alternated with lacquered elements that bring brightness while maintaining a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
Interior detailing makes extensive use of stainless steel and eco-leather finishes. Numerous handholds and carefully designed spaces, along with the complete absence of sharp corners, allow safe movement on board—even when sailing at a strong heel.
Construction and Details
Hull and deck benefit from resin infusion vacuum lamination, based on a sandwich structure with multi-axial fiberglass skins impregnated with vinylester resin. This advanced method ensures optimal weight savings and outstanding structural stiffness.
Designed from the outset as the best possible compromise between performance, onboard comfort, and safety. Conceived to handle generous displacement without sacrificing seaworthiness, it finds its balance in fast offshore cruising. Special care has been taken to limit draft without compromising righting moment.
Standard across all versions to allow easy rigging of any downwind sail. Available in various lengths.

Special attention has been given to ensuring it is fully walkable in complete safety, even in rough sea conditions. The result is an exceptionally clean layout, free of steps and obstacles, with high-traction surface.
