About this vessel
Offered for the first time in 40 years, DEERLEAP is a rare and iconic classic motor yacht with a rich legacy, maintained in Bristol condition and ready for her next steward. Built in Vancouver, BC by Hoffar-Beeching (later Boeing Canada) for Col. McLimont of Winnipeg Power & Light, DEERLEAP was purpose-built for Alaskan cruising and has since sailed from Mexico to the Pacific Northwest. Her robust construction, elegant Roaring Twenties charm, and long celebrity charter history—including guests like Bob Hope, Bing Crosby, John Wayne, and the Kennedy family—make her a floating piece of maritime history. This 65 27 classic was the Poster Girl of the 2023 Victoria Classic Boat Festival and remains one of the most admired yachts on the coast.
Featuring a large main salon and dining room, pilothouse with added day-head, covered aft deck with circular seating and teak table, and professionally reconfigured lower staterooms, she blends historic character with comfort and function. Mechanically updated with twin Gardner 6LX diesels, a hydraulic bow thruster, and new battery bank (14 L-16s, June 2023), she 27s proven, seaworthy, and efficient. The May 2024 survey showed excellent results with all findings addressed; she was also hauled and refastened from the waterline up with galvanized fasteners approximately 10 years ago. The foredeck is currently being recalked and refastened (2024/25).
Additional highlights include: Boathouse available with $800/month transferrable moorage in public marina, Liveaboard and charter potential, New full marine survey with haul-out (May 2024), Hydraulic bow thruster and spare Gardner engine included, Celebrity history and wartime Navy service (B154), Cruises annually to the Broughtons and beyond—she is no boathouse queen! Includes valuable collectibles, sterling, china, artwork, and yacht history. Capable of being handled by a two-person crew with excellent maneuverability from the pilothouse and dual screws.
