A proven cruising yacht with recent offshore experience. This 1990 Jeanneau Sun Charm 39 was refitted in Padang, Indonesia in March 2026 and sailed from Indonesia to Langkawi between May and August 2026. The current owner has just completed the passage and believes she is ready to sail back to Indonesia from Langkawi without requiring any major work.
Designed by renowned French naval architect Jacques Fauroux, the Sun Charm 39 is a well-regarded cruising yacht, offering a good balance between sailing performance, stability and comfortable accommodation. At 39 feet, she is large enough for extended cruising while remaining manageable for a couple or small crew.
The yacht has benefited from recent maintenance and upgrades, including all-new seacocks. All windows and hatches were also replaced with 8 mm acrylic in May 2026, addressing the previous leaks.
The Sun Charm 39 offers a practical and comfortable cruising layout with three separate cabins. The forward cabin provides a private sleeping area, while two aft cabins offer additional accommodation for guests or crew.
The spacious saloon features comfortable seating around a dining table, which can be lowered and converted into an additional berth when required. Five fans throughout the interior provide good airflow and ventilation, particularly useful for cruising in the tropics.
The yacht was originally fitted with two heads. At present, the starboard head is being used as additional storage space, while the other head remains available for use. The galley is positioned conveniently adjacent to the saloon, with a practical layout suited to extended cruising and life aboard.
Overall, the interior provides a good balance between sleeping accommodation, living space and practical storage, making her well suited for cruising, family use or longer stays aboard.
Powered by Yanmar 3GM30 diesel engine, she has benefited from important mechanical maintenance in recent years. The engine received a top-end rebuild in 2024, while the stuffing box was renewed in April 2024.
Further drivetrain servicing was completed with a new cutless bearing installed in May 2026, reflecting the owner's ongoing maintenance before the recent Indonesia to Langkawi passage.
The yacht features a conventional sloop rig, offering a simple and proven setup for cruising. The standing rigging was replaced in 2024, providing added confidence for offshore sailing and extended cruising.
