Escape II is a proven 1998 Perry 43 cruising catamaran, designed and built by Bryan Perry in Coomera, Queensland. Strong, capable and well-equipped for extended passagemaking, she has already carried her current owners from the Queensland coast through New Caledonia, Vanuatu and the Solomon Islands, demonstrating her credentials as a genuine bluewater cruiser.
At 13.10 metres overall with a generous 6.60-metre beam, Escape II offers an excellent balance of cruising performance, comfortable living space and practical storage. Her four-cabin accommodation provides two queen and two double berths, complemented by two Vacuflush heads, two internal showers and a transom shower. The spacious cockpit and light-filled saloon create an inviting environment for extended life aboard.
Power is provided by twin Yanmar 3JH4E 40hp diesels with saildrives and Autostream three-blade feathering propellers. With approximately 4,281 hours to port and 3,971 hours to starboard, the engines deliver a reported cruising speed of 6.5 knots and maximum speed of 8.5 knots. High-output Balmar alternators provide additional charging capability while underway.
Cruising independence is a major strength, with a 550Ah lithium house bank, Victron Quattro 3000 inverter/charger, solar generation, twin LE450 wind turbines and a Spectra Cape Horn 60L/hr watermaker. Generous tankage of approximately 1,000 litres of fuel and 900 litres of freshwater further supports long-range cruising away from shore facilities.
Her navigation package is centred around B&G electronics, including Zeus 3 chartplotter and autopilot, 4G radar, AIS, Triton wind instruments and forward-facing sonar. Iridium GO provides satellite communications, while Fusion audio, a Samsung television and Sonos soundbar add entertainment aboard.
The sail wardrobe includes a Hydranet mainsail, Hydranet/Dacron headsails and Code Zero/screecher, with standing rigging replaced in June 2019 and running rigging renewed in 2021. A Profurl C430 furler and stainless-steel self-tailing Anderson winches complete a practical cruising sail-handling package.
Recent improvements continue on deck, including a complete cockpit surround with new clears and zips in 2026. Ground tackle includes a Sarca Excel primary anchor with 80 metres of 10mm galvanised chain, Fortress spare anchor and Maxwell 1200 electric windlass.
Currently lying on the Gold Coast, Australia, with Australian tax paid, Escape II combines proven Pacific cruising experience, substantial tankage, comfortable accommodation and an extensive inventory for self-sufficient cruising. Prospective buyers should note that the four-person liferaft is currently listed as not in service and should be addressed before offshore use.
