Overview

About this vessel

The Sparr Norderstedt Twin I is a 1973 design by Fritz Hartz that was entirely rebuilt in 2013. The original plywood was used as a mold for the new polyester superstructure. The vessel features a teak cockpit, a laminated keel, and is registered in Germany.

The yacht is powered by a single Yanmar 2JH4-UTE diesel engine producing 100 HP, with hydraulic 2 drives built into the hull and propeller driven via shaft. The vessel achieves a cruising speed of 5 knots with a maximum speed of 7 knots, consuming approximately 3 liters per hour. The engine was serviced in September 2024 and has 1,900 operating hours.

The electrical system is built around a 12V battery bank comprising three 200 Ah lithium batteries installed in 2021, supplemented by a 70 Ah engine battery. Power generation includes a 150W Victron MPPT solar charger, a 60W Superwind MPPT wind generator, and a 120W battery alternator charger. A Victron Multiplus 12V/3000W inverter supports both 12V and 220V systems.

Fresh water is supplied by a Schenker watermaker producing 50 liters per hour. The interior accommodates two cabins with a total of four berths plus two single berths in the saloon, with a converted workshop area. Interior headroom is 1.90 meters. The galley on the starboard hull includes a three-burner gas stove, microwave, and 60-liter refrigerator. A single electric toilet with a recently serviced pump and a cockpit shower complete the facilities. Hot water is provided by the engine via a 30-liter tank installed in 2013.

The yacht carries a comprehensive suite of electronics including a Lowrance chartplotter, Raymarine depth sounder and log, Technautic autopilot and anemometer, Simrad VHF radio with AIS reception, GPS, Class B AIS transceiver, and an Iridium Go satellite phone. Navigation is supported by a magnetic compass.

The mast is aluminum with standing rigging in steel wires replaced in 2021 and running rigging continuously updated between 2020 and 2024. The mainsail, a Newport Triradial design with full batten and 33.50 square meters of sail area, was replaced in June 2024. The genoa offers 47 square meters of sail area and dates from 2017. A Furlex S300 furling system is paired with seven cockpit and mast winches.

Safety equipment includes a Sea-Safe four-person life raft new in 2019, three automatic and two solid life jackets, a lifering, an EPIRB new in 2019, four electric bilge pumps, three fire extinguishers, a boat chair, and a complete emergency kit.

Ground tackle comprises a 20-kilogram CQR main anchor, a Fortress FX-23 spare anchor, 60 meters of 10mm stainless steel chain, 20 meters of replacement 10mm galvanized chain, and 40 meters of anchor line. An electric Lofrans windlass with remote control handles anchor operations.
