About this vessel
Fresh from an extraordinary victory in the 2025 Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race, securing Overall Honours and the Double Handed IRC Division win, the JPK 1030 Min River stands at the pinnacle of modern shorthanded offshore racing performance.
Ordered new from France and commissioned with the direct input of Jean Pierre Kalbert, this yacht was meticulously optimised, tested, and configured prior to shipping to Australia. Every specification and option was selected with a single objective: to create the most competitive double handed offshore racing yacht possible for the demanding conditions of Australia's East Coast and the challenge of the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race.
JPK yachts are globally respected for their IRC focused design philosophy and exceptional short handed efficiency. They can be raced very competitively with crew, yet achieve peak performance without requiring a full IRC crew allocation.
Performance Engineering
At the core of Min River's capability is a refined and purposeful performance package. The yacht features an optional high modulus mast with carbon spreaders to reduce rig weight and increase stiffness, and a 300l water ballast system engineered for rapid transfer with cockpit dump valve control and large diameter plumbing. An adjustable rudder angle system minimises drag across conditions.
Helming comfort and security are enhanced through seat pads, cockpit floor chocks, and adjustable foot braces, while carefully designed deck systems place every control within immediate reach. Additional running rigging enables efficient downwind sail peeling, while two reefable headsails and dedicated tack line systems allow reefing directly from the cockpit.
A telescopic transom swim ladder and cockpit shower provide Australian practicality.
Sail Inventory and Electronics
The complete North Sails inventory was selected using guidance from France and experience from the most competitive international JPK campaigns. Two IRC certificates provide optimisation for symmetric spinnaker configuration and asymmetric sail configuration for alternate conditions.
Navigation and performance data are delivered through a premium NKE electronics suite. Power is supplied by dual 100A lithium batteries, supported by two solar panels.
At the navigation station, battery monitoring system, Iridium satellite phone, Icom VHF radio, and an onboard computer with 30-inch mounted PC screen provide comprehensive offshore capability, with WiFi interface and Starlink connectivity.
Functional Offshore Interior
Below deck, the layout is practical, efficient, and purpose built for offshore racing. The saloon features bench seating with lee cloths. An aft port galley includes a Jetboil, 12V fridge, and sink. A starboard navigation station, aft pipe cots integrated with ballast tank structure, and an electric toilet aft to starboard complete the functional interior.
Preparing a yacht to enter and compete successfully in the Rolex Sydney Hobart requires enormous commitment in time, engineering, and financial investment. Min River removes that journey, offering a fully proven and race ready platform capable of immediate success in Australia or internationally.
