LookingGlass is a 2003 Cheoy Lee 61 LRC Cockpit Motor Yacht designed by Frank Mulder. She presents as a full-displacement, long-range trawler with the tankage, machinery, protected deck access, and the practicality of a cockpit motor yacht that many experienced cruising buyers value.
LookingGlass features a custom layout on the Cheoy Lee 61 LRC Series, which Cheoy Lee confirms was designed for the original commissioning owner. Unlike the standard 61 LRC configuration, which typically included a lower helm forward, galley aft of the helm, and an upper flybridge, LookingGlass was built with a fully enclosed bridge arrangement. This custom design creates a noticeably larger salon and galley, enhancing the vessel's interior volume, comfort, and livability.
Careful stewardship and thoughtful modernization are central to LookingGlass's appeal. Her interior was professionally redesigned by Yacht Interiors of Annapolis and completed by Annapolis Harbor Boat Yard in 2020, incorporating custom salon seating, improved storage solutions, quartz surfaces, updated heads, new carpeting, and a modernized galley. In 2021, the helm and electronics were substantially upgraded with a Raymarine-based navigation suite, ICOM communications, Maretron monitoring, camera systems, FLIR, night vision, and fuel monitoring.
Her exterior presentation further reflects an actively maintained and improved yacht. In 2024, the California deck, cockpit, and teak top cap were restored, including sanding, board replacement, and renewed caulking. Exterior cushions were reupholstered, a custom folding teak table was added to the California deck, and the Nautical Structures davit was rebuilt in 2025.
Mechanically and operationally, LookingGlass is built around the core attributes expected of a capable long-range trawler: twin Caterpillar diesel engines, twin Northern Lights generators, Wesmar fin stabilization, Wesmar bow and stern thrusters, substantial fuel capacity, a watermaker, Starlink connectivity, practical deck access, and a cockpit motor yacht layout that supports boarding, line handling, water access, and serviceability.
