GHOST is a 3-stateroom Sou'wester 52. Her Owner's cabin is aft on the port side featuring a double berth, hanging locker, ensuite head, and stall shower. Across on the starboard side, she has a U-shaped galley with all amenities. Her Main Salon has a U-shaped dinette to port with a beautiful custom cherry adjustable table that has a compass rose inlay. To starboard is a very comfortable settee with a navigation station aft of the settee. Forward of this area are two staterooms, port and starboard; the starboard side has an over/under berth arrangement and the port cabin has a double berth. The two staterooms share a head with separate stall shower area forward.
GHOST has a high gloss varnished cherry interior with ambience rheostat lighting and ventilation. She has custom valances with curtains throughout; accent lighting in the appropriate areas, and a gloss varnished solid wood teak and holly cabin sole. GHOST has custom interior carpentry touches throughout such as hideaway doors which enclose a television, cherry framed overhead hatches, storage racks for wine bottles and glasses, custom made dorade vent closures, and Conan countertops.
The forward head is finished in gloss cherry wood with a recessed overhead lighting with dimmer and a large opening hatch. A separate Formica shower is forward with telephone-style shower head, mixing valve and separate sump. The head features a Sealand Vacu-flush toilet plumbed to holding tank and a cherry vanity with Summit Prairie Conan countertop with undermounted satin stainless steel sink and Grohe fixtures with hot and cold pressure water.
The starboard forward cabin has upper and lower single berths with Tempurpedic foam and custom fitted sheets, with cushions finished in Kravet fabric. The port forward cabin has a double berth with Tempurpedic foam and matching curtains. Both cabins share access to the forward head with separate stall shower area.
The aft head, located forward of the aft stateroom and opposite the galley, features varnished cherry finish with a white Formica shower area. The separate stall shower area has custom clear Plexiglas shower enclosure doors, telephone-style shower head, mixing valve and separate sump. It includes a Conan Summit Prairie vanity with Grohe fixtures and a Sealand Vacu-flush head with separate holding tank.
The owner's cabin aft on the port side features a double berth with Tempurpedic foam split mattress, covered in Kravet fabric. It has large storage drawers under the berth, lockers mounted outboard and above the berth with sliding doors, a hanging locker forward, and a bureau with drawers and locker aft of the hanging locker. Two additional opening ports offer plenty of light and ventilation.
The main salon features a U-shaped dinette to port with wrap-around cushioned seating surrounding a custom gloss urethaned cherry wood dining table with a removable leaf and compass rose inlay. The table is mounted on a polished stainless steel gas spring pedestal that can drop down to form a double berth. To starboard is a settee that pulls inboard to form a full berth. The navigation station is located at the aft end of the starboard settee and features a large and well-equipped varnished cherry nav desk with lift-top chart storage and storage drawers with hanging file storage.
The U-shaped galley aft starboard has plenty of counter space with cherry cabinetry and louvered door locker storage. It features a Conan Sierra Aurora countertop with integral backsplash forward of a large Kohler stainless steel sink with single-lever Grohe polished chrome faucet and hot and cold pressure water. It includes a fresh water hand pump, a gimbaled Force 10 propane 3-burner stainless steel stove with oven and broiler, a large refrigerator and freezer with Grunert 12-volt system with eutectic plates, and a microwave mounted in a locker.
GHOST incorporates DualGuard composite construction and the patented SCRIMP process. The outer skin of Kevlar/E-glass greatly increases the strength of the hull against impacts. The inner skin is carbon fiber, providing superior stiffness and tremendous strength to overall weight ratios. The centerboard draws a scant 5'10" of draft with an NACA foil-shape in section and elliptical platform to maximize windward performance. The centerboard tip is ballasted with 125 lbs. of lead. GHOST has a balanced spade rudder and a lead keel with fiberglass centerboard.
The deck is one-piece resin infused using the SCRIMP process. It features stainless steel bow and stern pulpits, a Hinckley stainless steel bow roller and stem iron, foredeck teak chafe guard for chain, stainless steel stanchions and double lifelines with gates, and varnished teak dorade boxes with stainless steel guards and sliding cherry ringed closures. Harken ball-bearing cars are mounted on inboard genoa tracks with control lines led aft to cockpit.
The cockpit features a sand-color Top Gun fabric dodger with stainless steel grab rail covered with elkhide, a sand-color Top Gun fabric bimini with flaps on sides and aft end, Hinckley cockpit cushions in white naugahyde with piping, a varnished teak cockpit coaming with custom compass nose inlay, and a teak cockpit sole with drainage scuppers. The helm features a 40" destroyer-type stainless steel wheel with elkhide covered rim, a Hinckley teak mounted folding cockpit table, a varnished teak 3-cup drink holder, and a Danforth binnacle compass. The cockpit is set up for shorthanded sailing with powered winches accessible by helmsman.
GHOST was built with ease of comfort and sailing in mind and is set up with a GMT carbon fiber stoway mast with a Reckmann hydraulic furling system, electric primary winches, and hydraulic boom yang and backstay. Running rigging including main sheet, main halyard, genoa sheets, and outhaul were replaced. The full spinnaker package includes carbon fiber spinnaker poles mounted on deck.
The electrical system includes separate 12-volt DC systems and 110/220-volt AC systems. The 12-volt DC system includes start battery, house batteries, and a separate dedicated bow thruster system battery. The 110/220-volt AC system is powered by shore power connection or from a Panda 8-KW generator in separate sound enclosure.
GHOST features a 2000 Yanmar 4JH2-DTE 88-hp diesel turbo engine that is soft-mounted with a Hurth 2:1 reduction gear, Racor dual fuel filter, and Gori 3-blade folding propeller. A bow thruster is included. The sound insulated engine space features an engine room blower, full-length drip pan, water-lift type exhaust, low engine oil alarm system, and high coolant temperature engine alarm system. Air conditioning is a 24,000 BTU reverse-cycle system. An Espar D5L diesel heater is also installed.
GHOST was refitted in 2022 with new rig, rigging and all new electronics. The yacht is in superb condition inside and outside, with excellent covers for all brightwork and varnish. GHOST is a late model Sou'wester 52.
