The NEW J/7 is a modern 23' family daysailer with a large, sit-in cockpit, easy-to-handle sail plan, and built-in stability that's second to none in the size range. This is the perfect sized daysailer — roomy enough to bring the whole gang, and small enough to tow home behind a mid-sized SUV.
The large, easy-access, self-draining cockpit features secure 8.5' cockpit seats and backrests, and a step-on transom for easy swim platform boarding. The optimized deck layout prioritizes simplicity and efficiency, including an end-boom mainsheet system and bridle with no traveler to trip over. A deck-stepped, single spreader aluminum mast allows for convenient rigging, raising and lowering of the rig.
The J/7 achieves exceptional all-weather stability through a high 45% ballast-to-displacement ratio and low vertical center of gravity with a 3.8' fixed all-lead keel. No hiking necessary. A small interior cabin offers settee seats and a V-berth platform, ideal for weather protection, storage, a place to nap and personal privacy.
Other features include a molded-in ORC toe-rail running from bow to stern with a single gate across the transom, single-point lift capability, and ease of trailing behind a mid-size SUV.
