Large enough for extended stays on board but small enough for a couple to handle easily, Sea Ray hit the mark with the L550, the most refined and final of their luxurious L Class series. Three staterooms, two heads, and a convertible salon sofa allow the boat to comfortably sleep eight guests.
Powered by Caterpillar C12.9L inboards with direct drives, the boat is nimble and easy to maneuver thanks to bow and stern thrusters, all integrated into a joystick.
The foredeck has elevated bulwarks to keep those lounging on the bow secure and adds style to the exterior lines of the boat. An ACR spotlight and windlass with stainless steel anchor and foot pedals are all easily accessible.
The bow lounging area is much more than just a bench seat that you'll find on many comparable models. It has C-shaped seating forward with backrests that fold down under the hinging seat bottom—they are very easy to configure and store. The removable bow table and leg conveniently store under the seat bottoms as well. A forward-facing sofa flanks the other lounge to create true opposing seating for five or more on the bow. For the extra hot days, a Mediterranean style sunshade with four poles and a mesh shade, all of which stow easily under the aft bench seat. A Fusion stereo system and dimmable blue accent rope lighting make the bow the perfect entertaining space.
Wide side access makes it easy to get to the transom and cockpit area. The transom has a wide hydraulic swim platform with self-folding, deploying steps making it easy to access the platform no matter how deep it is deployed. Where most boats this size feature crew quarters in the transom, the L550 has a large transom storage hatch, easily accessed from the transom, center line in the boat and deep. Complete with line holders, fender racks, and tender chalks that can be slid out for removal, the platform can house a sizeable tender.
Stepping up into the cockpit is a generous L-shaped sofa with a folding maintenance-free Corian table. The cockpit has folding gunnel doors for easy side access from a fixed pier. The fuel fills are under the folding footrest in the threshold of the folding access doors, making it very easy to fuel from the dock.
