Fortunato was the first of nine yachts built in the Southern Wind 72 series. Renowned for their build quality and Bruce Farr's exceptional design, these yachts are equally at home crossing oceans—effortlessly clicking off 200-mile days—or competing in long-distance racing. Fortunato will knock out those 200-mile days without disappointing the avid racer or the family and friends headed offshore for adventure. Celebrated for their strength, balance, and performance, the Southern Wind 72 is a true thoroughbred, and Fortunato is an excellent example of the pedigree.
On deck, Fortunato features sleek hull and deck lines, a secure center cockpit, wide side decks, and generous fore and aft deck spaces that make moving around the boat safe and comfortable. Most running rigging leads aft to the cockpit, allowing for efficient, confident short-handed sailing.
Below, Fortunato's interior is finished in warm, honey-colored varnished teak, creating a timeless and inviting atmosphere. The layout includes a spacious master cabin aft, two well-appointed guest cabins forward, and dedicated crew quarters with a private head—ideal for extended cruising or professional crewed operation.
Over the years, Fortunato has benefited from numerous upgrades, including several recent improvements that keep her modern, reliable, and ready to sail anywhere in the world. Fortunato recently completed a comprehensive refit, including new bimini top, cockpit cushions, batteries, house and engine systems, generator, headliners throughout the cabin, interior lighting upgrades with added floor lighting in cabin, new air conditioning units, spreader lights, boom vang, full engine service, generator service, haul out and bottom paint.
