About this vessel
Stern is a 49.5m motor yacht built by Wider Yachts in Ancona, Italy, classified as the Wider 165 model. The yacht's creative design is aimed at allowing the owner and guests to become closer in contact with the water, while offering greater exploration range.
Designed as a tri-deck displacement motor yacht, Stern was awarded winner at the 2019 World Superyacht Awards, recognized for innovative diesel electric technology with a modern hybrid azipod system, enabling extremely quiet operations with a zero emissions mode. The yacht can operate in zero emissions mode with a battery bank of 91 cells allowing for silent cruising at five knots. Stern is built to RINA Green Plus Platinum Class.
Powered by four marine diesel generators coupled to alternators and electric motors linked to a power management system in conjunction with the latest battery technology, the power runs the hotel load and propulsion to two azipod drives offering diesel and electric drive. The modern propulsion solution has allowed for an industry shift in engine room space and layout configuration, which has enabled the designers to optimize the hull space for greater scope and use for guest comfort.
The accommodation comprises 10 guests in 5 exquisite and luxurious suites. Expansive full deck to ceiling windows envelop the lounges of the main deck, allowing natural light into the spacious living areas.
One of the most exceptional features on board can be found in the area reserved for the owner: an apartment that extends across the complete beam of the yacht with two private balconies overlooking the sea.
On the main deck, there is a gym and a sauna. On the upper deck, there is the Sky Lounge and a dining area with sliding doors, which once retracted create the feeling of an open but sheltered outdoor dining area.
On the lower deck there are four spacious guest cabins all with bathrooms; two of them double VIP cabins and two twin cabins.
For crew, there is a large captain's cabin on the upper deck adjacent to the wheelhouse and crew members have four twin cabins in the lower deck. These cabins are on either side of a novel centreline forward/aft access corridor which connects the crew with the engine room, improving the operability of the yacht for crew to maintain the systems and provisions without compromising guest areas.
The exterior and interior space has been maximized in terms of layout and offers an astonishing selection of lifestyle features and amenities for a yacht of this size, including a walk-around beach club, saltwater pool, a touch-and-go helipad, an aft garage, and two Jacuzzis.
Extensive refit and upgrades were undertaken during 2020–2022, including the conversion of the submarine docking area into a dedicated battery room with repositioned and upgraded lithium power modules, full refits of the main deck salon, master suite, upper deck salon, and guest lobby areas, replacement of flexi-teak with real teak wood on the helideck and foredeck, complete overhaul of all sea water pump systems, cooling and ventilation networks, and installation of a new 5G network.
