The Rodman 870 remains one of the most respected sub-30ft flybridge cruisers on the market. Offering genuine offshore capability, economical twin diesel performance and a remarkably spacious layout, she is a versatile all-rounder equally suited to family cruising, fishing or extended coastal passages. 'Madness of Poole' is a particularly smart example that presents in excellent condition and is ready for immediate enjoyment.
The Rodman 870 Flybridge has established itself as one of the most capable compact offshore cruisers of its generation, combining exceptional seakeeping, solid Spanish construction and the reassuring simplicity of twin shaft-drive diesel engines. Equally suited to family cruising, offshore fishing or extended weekends away, the 870 offers a practical layout, generous outdoor space and comfortable accommodation within a highly manageable size.
This 2010 example is powered by twin Volvo Penta D3-170 diesel engines and presents in excellent order throughout. Her spacious flybridge, secure walkaround side decks and large self-draining cockpit make her an ideal cruising platform, while the bright interior comfortably accommodates four people.
Built by Rodman Polyships in Spain, the vessel features a white GRP deep-V planing hull with GRP deck and superstructure. She is rated CE Category B Offshore.
The accommodation has been thoughtfully designed to maximise both comfort and practicality. Forward is a generous V-berth that converts to a comfortable double, complemented by useful storage and an overhead hatch providing natural light and ventilation. The saloon features a convertible dinette creating a further small double berth, allowing comfortable overnight accommodation for four adults.
Opposite, the compact galley is equipped with a sink, hob, refrigerator and ample storage, while the separate heads compartment incorporates a marine WC, wash basin and shower facility. Large windows throughout create a bright, airy atmosphere, making the interior feel remarkably spacious for a yacht of this size.
The large self-draining cockpit is one of the Rodman's defining features, providing an excellent space for entertaining, fishing or relaxing at anchor. Wide side decks with substantial stainless steel guardrails allow safe access forward, while the bathing platform and boarding ladder make access to and from the water straightforward.
The flybridge offers commanding visibility from the upper helm and generous seating for guests, creating an excellent social space underway or in harbour. A second fully equipped lower helm provides comfortable all-weather operation from within the saloon.
